Errors On I-94 Cards

Have you been issued an I-94 card with 9 or 10 digits? Then a replacement card is needed. An I-94 card should have eleven digits. If you are a foreign national with an error on your I-94 card -- including a misspelled name, incorrect date of birth, incorrect visa classification, incorrect authorized period of stay -- please report in person to the nearest Customs and Border Protection (CBP) deferred inspection office or port of entry, regardless of where the original I-94 was issued. A CBP officer will correct the error on the I-94 card at the deferred inspection or port of entry.

Hi, I came across this page while running a search for deffered inspection offices. I have a question that I'm wondering if someone could help me with:

I am a foreign student and recently changed my passport as well as my name on my new passport while in the US. While I have a new I-20, my F1 visa and I-94 still reflect my old name; as a result I cannot change my SSN card or my driver's license (I had to submit my original court document from my country in order to get the passport changed, and nobody will accept a copy of this - they want me to show a new I-94).
Would I be able to get a new I-94 at a deferred inspection office? Or would I have to leave the country and reenter?

My daughter (Canadian citizen)has been attending university for almost 4 years in the US on an I-94 visa. She was just married last weekend to an officer in the US Army. Before they go about filing for a status change (he will file to sponsor her into the country legally), how does she go about getting her last name changed? She does not have a social security number *they only issue a number for income tax purposes now - no longer an SS number* and the DMV won't allow her to change her name without the SS name change. Any ideas?
